Braw Paper Co. is a Homeware, stationery and giftware brand inspired by nature, and designed and illustrated by me - Tamsin Richardson. I run Braw Paper Co. alongside being a Mum to my two children and our Kelpie puppy.

I grew up in the Lake District in the North West corner of England, and spent my childhood outdoors, playing, learning and immersing myself in nature.
My work is particularly inspired by the colour and patterns found in our beautiful native fauna and flora, you'll often find that birds, insects and other creepy crawlies all make an appearance somewhere in my illustrations.

I design and illustrate fabric for homewares, and my work also adorns art prints, stationery, cards, tea towels, enamel pins and our best selling ceramic coasters.

Location
I am currently based in Fremantle, a beautiful port city just south of Perth in Western Australia. A beautiful spot, with endless beaches, beautiful bush walks and nature a plenty right on our doorstep. I am very lucky to live and work in the same place, it makes juggling family life a little bit easier.

The Braw Team:
We are still a very small team of 3, of 4 if you count my husband Grant, who is often roped in to help out!

I am the sole designer at Braw, all products are created from my mixed media, digital collage illustrations.

We then have Simone who is the office manager and the person who keeps things running smoothly. If you are a stockist or potential stockist it will be Simone who answers any questions or queries you have.

Naia is new to Braw and helps out with all things packaging and assisting Simone and myself with stockist orders and helping to dispatch all orders vis the online shop.

If you come to visit us in person at our studio near Fremantle you'll be sure to have a chat with at least one of us as we navigate our young children's busy social lives and school hours!

Background:
I grew up in a small English town called Kendal in the North Western part of the country. I was lucky to grow up by stunning lakes, rivers & streams, but also be surrounded by woodland and mountains! What more could a child wish for!

After moving to Glasgow, Scotland to study a degree in Visual Communications at The Glasgow School of Art, and following my graduation I worked as a graphic designer in Glasgow until, my now husband and I, decided to pack our backpacks and travel the world for 12 months. Our explorations through India, Nepal and South-East Asia was an incredible experience. For a lover of colour, nature, pattern and textiles it was a feast for the eyes and has continued to inspire my illustrations ever since.

After our adventure was over I worked as a homeware designer, creating products for a number of UK high street homeware and clothing stores. A couple of years later we decided we weren't quite ready to put our passports away and we found ourselves in Fremantle visiting friends - that was over 10 years ago and here we are still!

How it is made:
With emphasis on colour and quality, all illustrations and designs are created by me and we endeavour to print and manufacture as many of our products here in Australia as possible. When made overseas, we have wonderful relationships with small producers who have an emphasis on organic and sustainable manufacturing processes.

More about me:
As long as I am outside in nature I am happy! Walking our dog along the beach and watching the kids play in the waves, mountain biking, bushwalking throuhg ancient forests or hiking up mountains and camping under the stars with my family are my favourite things.

Sustainability:
We work very hard to try and make my business as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. We pride myself on wrapping your orders to look beautiful, with an added element of surprise and care, but everything can be reused or recycled. I source all my cardboard and packaging materials as FSC certified, I use paper tape, cornstarch cellophane and source all my products from Australian suppliers.

Thank you for visiting our website, and supporting a small business!

If you are a shop or a gallery, and you would like to become a Braw Paper Co. stockist, I would love to hear from you - alternatively if you need any help with your order feel free to get in touch.
